Political "tests"!

I took another one of those silly political tests. You can, too! Take it and post what it said about you.

I was across the board, but the party that stood out was the Constitution Party.

Huh?!?

I know I've had my head stuck in the sand, but what is it?

So I googled it...and here is what they stand for:

Seven Principles of the Constitution Party are:

  1. Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
  2. Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed individual;
  3. Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
  4. Property: Each individual's right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
  5. Constitution: and Bill of Rights interpreted according to the actual intent of the Founding Fathers;
  6. States' Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people;
  7. American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.
Not sure what I think. Sounds kinda cool. Sounds a little bit like what I think. Gonna have to do more research.

What does YOUR quiz say about you?

Mine came out most closely aligned with the Libertarian Party, followed by the Constitution Party. I have my doubts about the accuracy of that. What little I've learned so far about the Libertarian Party so far is they have good ideas on limiting the size of government, but tend to be too soft on national defense for my blood. I've also heard that many people see that party as a possible vehicle for the legalization of marijuana, which I oppose. I like the things you posted about the Constitution Party.

I'm actually a rebel who wants to overthrow the Republican Party. I want to rid it of those who sacrifice principle for the sake of politics and get some real conservatives in there. That, I believe, would offer the best chance of getting the Republican Party back to the kind of conservative principles embodied in what you posted about the Constitution Party.

"Backwoods Conservative" makes you sound like a hillbilly, kind of a Unabomber who actually loves the Constitution and spends time in his shack trying to find pictures of Nancy Pelosi with a goat. Only the ideas you articulate aren't backwoodsy at all - they're actually pretty smart, I mean for a Constitution-loving Unabomber and all.

And I agree, we need something different from the current batch of Republicans; something that embodies the ideals of our founding fathers and approaches governing as simplistically as they did. Those inspired men would roll over in their graves if they could see the mockery of their dreams their modern-day flagbearers have made of our country's government...

Going back to the Constitution ... now come on... thats a little crazy! A little radical! Wait thats what I believe ... hmmmm ... that just might work.

Krause,
It's funny you say that about "backwoods"...I didn't read the comment that way at all!

Krause and Johnny...neither of you said what YOUR results were! Come on...share!

All right, all right, I was 73% Consititution party. I do feel that the current Republican party has strayed from traditional Republican values and is largely to blame for the current mess (though to be clear, the Democrats are screwing things up far worse in their awful attempts to fix the mess they "inherited," notwithstanding that we would have gotten to this point much sooner if they had had their way the last decade or so anyway).

And I was just commenting on the name "Backwoods Conservative." That name makes me think of a Grizzly Adams-kind of character in an old shack in rural Alabama with signs in the yard that say "We shoot Democrats who walk past this point" and "You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers." The imagery created by the name is different from that created by the cogent comments our dear backwoodser makes, that's all. Just a funny dichotomy, I suppose.

I'd never heard of the Constitution Party? I'm 90% with them though.
What I found funny was that the Democrat Party was dead last on my list. :)

I got the idea for my moniker from an interview with Richard Moll, who played Bull on the TV series Night Court. He said he had appeared in a couple of episodes of The Dukes of Hazzard, playing a character called Milo Beaudry. He said he liked to refer to his character as "Milo Beaudry, Backwoods Defective." I enjoyed the play on words and it stuck with me.

I am an old country boy and I'm much more at home in the wilderness than I'll ever be in the city.

88% Libertarian
69% Constitution

not too far off. maybe a bit high on the libertarian scale, but i can take it.

I call myself an American and do not align with any party. The lessons we are trying to teach the kids are that you must follow what your heart and mind tell you in the situation at hand.
Example: voting on a color: you do not simply vote for your favorite without considering what it is for/what the purpose is. you chose different a color for your car than you do for your bedroom and a different one all together for your house. Voting is not that different... you might like the person, but are they the best for the job that they are running for?
