My thoughts...

Obamacare passed. It went into effect at noon yesterday amidst cheering on one side and weeping and gnashing of teeth on the other.

What do I think?

I have to admit it feels a bit surreal. How could this happen? How can our representatives not truly represent their constituencies?

It's not that I'm against people having healthcare. I'm not.

It's not that I'm against healthcare reform. I'm not.

It's that our government is getting too big. Taking on roles it's not supposed to take. Ruling our lives in ways our founding fathers never meant for us to be ruled.

Congress needs to be cleaned out. We need term limits. We need people who value the wishes of the people they represent.

And we need to get back to the limited government our Constitution was written for.

And THEN let's talk about healthcare reform.

And I have plenty of ideas for a better plan than they came up with.

Can we start with passing a law that our Congress and our President have to pay the same taxes, social security, etc as the rest of us and that they have to use the healthcare they are choosing for the rest of us?
Yes. Start there.

And how can I have forgotten to mention this? Maybe it's because I'm too sad about it...

We are now funding abortions. Our tax dollars are going toward killing innocent babies.

Excuse me while I go throw up.

A friend of mine posted this link on facebook as validation that the health care bill is necessary: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/19/opinion/19krugman.html

All I see in it is a bunch of opinion. And the one FACT I see is that we will be FORCED to buy insurance.

Which, in my opinion, takes away my freedom. Forced consumerism? Buy this or be fined? Just so the insurance companies won't go into a death spiral?

Get us out of this economic depression, Congress (and not by spending more money!). THAT will stop the insurance death spiral!
